Swimming Lessons

We put Rowan in swimming lessons this year, to hopefully get him more comfortable with the water. We don't spend a ton of time at the pool, so I was skeptical about how he would do. Last week was the first week, and he'll be finishing this Friday.

I have to say that he has done quite a bit better than I thought he would! He doesn't seem to be scared of the water. He even jumped off the low diving board twice! But, he DOES have a problem with listening and doing what the instructors ask of him. He is sooo strong willed! We are working on this at home, so hopefully we can make some progress.

Rowan has 2 great instructors! They make lessons so much fun. Kyle, who is also the head lifeguard at the pool, takes a lot of one-on-one time with the kids who need more reassurance. It's nice to see a young guy take so much interest in little kids. Apparently he is also a respite worker for special needs kids!

Here's a few pictures of our time at the pool today. It was a gorgeous morning!

Rowan can often be found slightly away from the rest of the group

The class got to go for a 'boat' ride to the deeper water

Bria loves being at the pool :)

Good for you! And by the way, I think that not listening or paying attention well thing might be linked to quite a few, if not all little boys. Either that or Rowan caught the same bug Riker has! Luckily there are teachers out there who understand!

Nice pictures!! Glad Rowan isn't scared of the water. It always helps if the kids have a good instructor.

Oh that pool looks so inviting!! And it was such a beautiful day here too! Would have been a nice day for the pool.

Bria's hair color looks gorgeous in that last pretty! Rowan is doing so well in the water and he is such a cutie!

P.S. - My daughter has the same not listening/not paying attention bug too...and she is 11! Check out my blog and you'll read what I mean... hehe...
