Why I'm in a bit of a slump

This face makes it hard to go out without someone commenting on how terrible I look, asking me what's wrong with my face, etc. Makeup just irritates it more, so I can't even cover it. Sigh. I wish I could climb into a hole.

Hey, you just need to smile - you've got a great smile! This is like one of those weight loss before-and-after pics where the before picture has horrible lighting, bad angles, etc. and the after picture is some photoshopped studio portrait.
Don't worry about it!

Except there's no photoshop in real life.

Aww...I know it must be super frustrating!! I thought of an idea though! It's your eczema that's the problem, right? My mom recently found a "cure" to her eczema and I tried it on Tate and it worked with him too! Coconut oil. You can buy it at the health food stores, (my mom gets it at Health Habit...oh, and my mom says it's 10% tues. this week too). Anyways, she's had eczema FOREVER on her hands and all she did was start rubbing coconut oil on it often throughout the day AND eating some. So just mix it in with your pototoes, or put a bit in your soup, or spread some onto a piece of bread. I've tried it too, and it tastes actually quite good! Tate also had eczema on his arms and I started giving him some coconut oil with his food and in about 2 weeks his eczema disappeared completely!! My mom's hasn't come back since she started using coconut oil either, and it was REALLY bad when she started with the coconut oil. Anyways, you can eat up to 3 1/2 tbsps. a day, and from what I can tell it works REALLY well!! Let me know if you have any questions or anything and I can try to give you more info if you want. :) But really, you should give it a try, cuz it's natural, and pretty cheap and has totally healed both Tate and my Mom's eczema in a matter of 2-3 weeks.

When I worked at daycare, a kid was sitting on my lap, chatting with me. Then, out of the blue, she asks me, "What's that rash on your face? It looks like dots!" Thanks hun, for pointing out my lovely complexion! Makes me feel like a supa-star! :-)

Maybe one day I'll have nice skin. One can only hope!

awe, Stacey, you are just beautiful.. Andrea's remedy sounds like it could work.. I still have to deal with acne breakouts at different times (hormones, ugh)..

I know how you feel ... it's not always just how it looks to people but also (mostly) how it feels -- irritating, itchy, etc. People can tell you over and over that you look fine, but they don't know how it feels. I didn't have eczema on my face but I struggled with acne (as a teeneager and then again after my last baby) ...basically the oil poured out on my face (and other areas) at such a fast rate, I could literally feel it moving through my pores ...such that it felt like insects crawling on my skin (24 hours a day, 7 days a week). It felt itchy, irritated and it was my whole face. Cleansing was a futile effort even if I would have done it 20 times a day. Some people noticed and pointed it out ... other people pretended they coudn't see anything. It was very frustrating...it made me feel constantly tired in my face and physically exhausted. This condition progressed between the years 1998 and 2006 until I finally resorted to accutane...which was the only thing that really helped me in the long run. I don't know if works for eczema too ... you'd have to ask your doctor. However, the side effects can be quite serious and it's not recommended if you are going to get pregnant ... or even just in the stage of potentially having babies. I took it when I was long finished having babies at least. Anyway, the side effects were very difficult for me including pro-longed depression for 2 years. I'm still glad I took it, though. I had already tried many other things that just weren't effective. Ultimately, for me taking accutane was the lesser of two evils. This doesn't necessarily help you much ... but just want you to know I understand how you feel. (The coconut oil suggested by Andrea sounds like an option worth trying.)

Sorry you're feeling down. My sister has always struggled with eczema and finally she went to some guy (can't remember who) but it turned out that she has a milk allergy - not to the milk itself, but to the pasteurization of it. So she cut that out, and voila! gone! I would suggest to go have your eyes read. Maybe there is something that your body isn't tolerating, or something that it's lacking and your body is dealing with it by breaking out into eczema. I'm a big advocate for natural things too, so maybe check it out and see what the health food stores have as well.
Hope the sunshine today brightens your spirits. Take care!

That sucks. I had something like that last summer. It was all over my eyes, neck and chest. My doc gave me a great cortisone cream (prescription) and it cleared up it no time. Hope you feel better soon.
