Who wants to hang out with me?

So this Saturday I will be setting up a table for Baby Booty at my first ever trade show. I'm more than a little nervous, and not sure what to expect at all!

Does anyone out there have any advice for me? What should I make sure to do, what should I avoid doing?

I'm really hoping to find someone to hang out with me there. Does anyone have Saturday free from 8-4 or so? The trade show is from 10-3 and it's about an hour away.

Anyway, maybe tomorrow I'll give you a sneak peek at the dress I bought to wear to my sister-in-law Stacey's wedding. Maybe :)

YAY!! I am so excited for you!! I LOVE doing trade shows! If you aren't already - to a draw.. a good idea is to do a gift certificate because then people have to make an order and very often will buy more than the gift certificate is worth. Also when you make your draw slips besides name and number & email, maybe also put a few questions like 'have you ever cloth diapered before?' or 'if you could get a free cloth diaper, which kind would you choose?' (these questions can help you decide direction that you want to go). Keep all the draw tickets afterwards and use email addresses to send out a monthly newsletter or call to do follow-up or mention sales to people that you remember seemed interested. Also a bowl of candy (or other free items) can also help draw people in. Dress nice (but not too over dressed), smile and appear confident (even if you aren't), make sure to bring all info you think you might need (that you don't already know). I'm not sure if you will already have a table assigned to you, but your table location can make a BIG difference to how many people stop by - also don't pick a table beside someone else doing the same thing, being near the entrance or exit can be good because you get natural traffic (altho they may not necessarily stop).. but basically if you get to pick a table think about it carefully and logically versus just picking one! If you are selling items there, make sure you have enough change in your cash box... and most of all, HAVE FUN!!!!

Use colour and pictures to attract attention to your table--- picture display with babies in the pictures are good. Bring a doll for demonstration-- faces, even dolls, attract attention.

Get up and actually greet people standing if you can... on the opposite side of the table, with a pamphlet or business card-- more personable and you can reach out and snag them if they come even remotely close to your table.

Display your business logo very prominently so that it is remembered.

Put out tons of samples of what you sell. Use baby colours-- pastels of blue/pink and even use helium balloons. Play on the idea of 'gifts' as people don't have to be parents themselves to make these purchases.

You could make a diaper cake to attract attention.... make it more festive, too.... a table with just papers and a few display items is too plain!
