Little of this and that

This past week has really flown by, yet dragged on.  It hasn't all been fun, and it hasn't all been bad either.  Make sense?

We started out with Thanksgiving.  It was beautiful.  We spent the evening with my Dad's family, enjoying a great meal and fun conversation.  But that day was also very sad.  Keith's Grandpa passed away that morning.  It's hard to find yourself in that situation.  Celebrating Thanksgiving, yet mourning at the same time.  It's a very strange feeling.

The next three days were spent planning for the weekend, which also included celebrating and mourning.  Thursday evening we loaded up in our van, drove three hours, and then put the kids to bed at Keith's parents house.  It was so good to be there.

Friday we spent remembering Grandpa Brandt, sharing memories, and saying goodbye.  It was a beautiful funeral, if a funeral can be.  I know Grandpa Brandt will be greatly missed.

Saturday included house hunting with Darren & Stacey (Keith's little sister and her husband) and celebrating a couple birthdays.  Stacey and Keith's Dad are both another year older (and wiser, of course).

Sunday was a gorgeous day.  We started out with a community church service in Riveton, and then celebrated Thanksgiving together for lunch.  Great food, and even better company :)  Faspa at Grandma Brandt's house was a great way to end our weekend.

It was full, busy, crazy, beautiful, sad, tiring, and now it's over.

Sorry about Keith's grandpa; I know how hard that is. Glad the rest of Thanksgiving went well.

Your SIL is Stacey? Hard to have someone with the same name sometimes, huh? I grew up with my Dad, of course, his friend Randy, my mom's BIL Randy, and a cousin of hers Randy. Ugh

What's Faspa?

wow, what a rollercoaster of a week. hope this week is better :)

S Club Mama, Faspa is like dinner where you make cold sandwiches, the table is usually set with everything from cheeses, meats, pickles, peanut butter, jam, etc. Afterwards there are usually a bunch of different cookies & squares for desert (or at least at my Grandma's house, lol)

Sorry to hear about your Grandpa. So good to know that we can mourn with joy and thanksgiving mixed in with our tears! Thankful for the hope we have to see loved ones again.

Yup, Ellen explained Faspa (or Vaspa) really well! It's a Mennonite thing.

I'm so sorry to hear about Keith's grandpa. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Those weeks are just exhausting. So much good, so much sadness.
